New Home

A couple of friends who got married recently have been waiting for their first home to complete and it did today.
I wanted to give them a card so decided on a quick make.
The cutting file was brought from Esty
I then used my scan n cut to cut the shapes from some vinyl.
I love the scan n cut for this as you just place the bits on the mat and once scanned in move the item to the right position and cut.
Once at l used some transfer paper to put the image Straight onto the card blank.
I am really pleased with how this turned out.

Taggy Blanky

I had some squares left over from the quilt so thought I would make a taggy blanky for my friends baby as well.
These are basically soft blankets with lots of different textures.
Firstly I made the 12" x 12" patchwork square with the leftovers from the quilt.
I have a box that I keep all my snippets of ribbons in that I snip off from clothes, gifts etc.
This came into its own to attach lots of assorted ribbons to the square.
I backed it all with a piece of minky fabric that is so soft to touch.
Everything was secured into place by running a couple of rows of stitching around the edge.

First Attempt at Quilting!

To go with the card I made in the previous post I wanted to make a gift for the baby.
I knew that the nursery was having a Dumbo theme.
I found some fat quarter's in Hobbycraft that were Dumbo and in pinks perfect.
I have never made a quilt before but had brought some fabric dies to use in my Big Shot Plus,
I cut out a number of squares from each piece of material and the worked out a pattern I liked.
Before I did any sewing I found some help from
Pinterest and You Tube!
I sewed the squares into 12x12 blocks, then joined the blocks into rows and fixed the rows together. Amazing what you can learn online.
I then watched some more tutorials and added the wadding and backing to the panel. Then I stitched each square to give the quilting effect.
Now come the how part finishing the quilt of with some binding.
I cut 2.S" strips of the backing material and joined them together.
I then folded it in half, ironed it and attached it to the quilt.
Again this involved watching some videos of how to do cornes etc
Finally I folded the binding over and attached it on the otherside.
It had taken me an afternoon and an evening but I am really pleased with how it turned out.

The papers were all from my snippets draw.
I used my Scan and cut machine to cut the shapes.
Then mounted then onto a piece of white card.

The sentiment was done on my Scan and cut
